Caring for ageing skin: Natural remedies for a youthful glow

As we age, our skin undergoes various changes. It becomes, thinner, loses fat, and no longer looks as plump and smooth as it once did. However, by adopting a natural skincare routine, we can significantly slow down the ageing process and maintain a healthy, youthful glow. Here are some tips on how to care for ageing skin naturally.

  1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate….

Hydration is key to maintaining healthy skin. Drinking plenty of filtered water helps to keep your skin moisturised from the inside out. Additionally, using a natural serum and moisturiser helps to lock in moisture and prevent dryness.

  2. Eat a balanced diet

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and healthy fats can help to maintain healthy skin. Always aim for foods rich in antioxidants such as pomegranates, apples, lemons, kale, broccoli, olives, blackberries and blueberries.

  3. Protect your skin from the sun

Sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, even on cloudy days.

  4. Use natural skincare products

Many skincare products contain harsh chemicals that can damage the skin over time. Opt for natural skin products that are free of synthetic fragrances, parabens and sulfates.

  5. Get plenty of sleep

During sleep, your skin’s repair mechanisms are most active. Getting enough sleep allows your skin to repair and regenerate, leading to a fresher looking complexion.

  6. Skincare Ritual

It is important to develop a skincare ritual routine that fits into your lifestyle. It doesn’t have to take one hour per day (although that would be nice). Ensure that you are cleansing, toning and exfoliating to allow new skin to regenerate.
